Accessibility statement

Everyone should be able to run the numbers on a home or a loan. We design and test CalcLedger to work for people using keyboards, screen readers, zoom and high contrast.

Our goal

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

How we test

Before every release, every page is scanned with the open-source axe-core accessibility engine for WCAG 2 A and AA rules. A release is not published until the scan passes.
Every page is loaded on a 390-pixel phone screen and a desktop screen to check that nothing overflows or is cut off.
HTML is checked with the W3C Nu HTML Checker so headings, labels and landmarks are structured correctly.

What you can expect

Every calculator field has a visible label, and results update in a region that screen readers announce.
All features work with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a "skip to content" link.
Text and buttons meet AA color contrast, and pages reflow when you zoom to 200%.
Charts come with the same figures in text or in a table, and decorative illustrations are hidden from screen readers.
Wide tables scroll inside their own box and can be reached with the keyboard.

Known limitations

Ads are provided by Google AdSense, and we can't fully control their accessibility. Automated testing doesn't catch every problem, so we also welcome reports from people who use assistive technology every day.

If something on the site is hard to use, email hello@mycalcsite.com with the page address and what happened, including your browser and any assistive technology you use. We aim to reply within 2–3 business days and to fix confirmed problems in the next release.
